Fall 2011 TV Plan
Okay. Still have not made the switch to Tivo. Still plan to. And I have not had much luck in reducing my television time. Yes, I am an addict. But I did manage to only plan for network programming. I think I can make do with that. Eek.

See why I need two DVRs? I'm hoping I can do a combo of one Tivo and streaming online from the networks sites, or Hulu or TV.com.
And yes, my life is all about television. I realize I need to work on that even more. Seriously, this is really scaled down!
Summertime Strategy
So I've got a lot on my plate. I have a little Internet Marketing company. I need to get healthy. I want to buy my own home. I want to get organized. I want to meet my grandson. Who lives in England.
I just need to figure out how to find the time to do everything. And I think the key is to give up my cable. My HD DVR. My DVR. And my other cable box. One of me. Three televisions. And so many TV shows!
Here's what I was planning to watch this summer:
- Flashpoint
- Law & Order CI
- In Plain Sight
- Extreme Makeover Weight Edition
- Men of a Certain Age
- Love Bites
- The Glades
- White Collar
- Switched at Birth
- Covert Affairs
- Rookie Blue
- Rescue Me
- Teen Wolf
- 9 Lives of Chloe King
- Suits
- Franklin & Bash
- Falling Skies
- True Blood
- Weeds
- The Big C
- Hawthorne
- Royal Pains
- Necessary Roughness
- Leverage
- The Closer
- Rizzoli & Isles
- Eureka
- Warehouse 13
- Alphas
- Haven
- Torchwood
- Breaking Bad
- Burn Notice
And that's light TV for me. In the fall I'll have about 30+ shows to watch. Does that make me a TV addict? Probably. I think what it really says about me is that I don't have anything else I'd rather do. So I'm working on that.
I think I'll make the drastic decision to cancel my cable this week. I'm ordering a TIVO. (Hey, I don't want to give everything up!). I'll sign up for Netflix and use my Amazon Prime membership and then pray that some SyFy and TNT and USA shows are available for streaming. If not, well, I'll find other things to do with my time. I would like to use the $100 I'll save each month for mad money. So if I'm spending $140 a month now for cable, I figure I'll save at least that...
I'll still be able to watch these network shows because of a cheap $14 antennae I picked up. I live in the city so it's crystal clear for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox & the CW. I can live with 5 channels and the Internet. I can. I hope. I'll mourn my HBO and Showtime series. But I'm trading them in for my own life.
- Flashpoint
- Extreme Makeover Weight Edition
- Love Bites
- Rookie Blue
Oh dear, that's pretty drastic. Gulp.
49
Now that I am 49 years old I think I will focus on what makes me happy and what I can do to make a postive impact on the world. That's it.
